Favorite part of the day was probably getting to show everybody the alligator. Harper, Tali, Chris, Bobby, and Charlie all came over. It was cool to look at, ya know, seeing a gator swimming around. Also, I got to use the mixer drill to get the paint ready for our group.

Today was our last work day of the trip but my first day working on worksite 4 where the team has been hanging drywall all week. Hanging drywall is a new skill for most of our team and I heard a lot of talk throughout the week about how challenging it was to do right. We had a tough start to the morning and had to take a few pieces down from the previous day that weren’t done quite right but about an hour and a half into the day our team found our groove and accomplished a lot! Shout out to Colin who did a great job getting a really challenging wall hung on studs that weren’t straight!

Today, Jeanne, Leslie, Nick, Isabel, Colin, and I went to walmart to get some sides for dinner and necessities for ice cream sundaes. The longer we were at the store, the longer the list of “necessities” became. How many tubs of ice cream do we need? Maybe 1 or 2? Somehow we ended up with 3… Chocolate sauce, caramel sauce, whipped cream, and mini m&ms. What about people who don’t like ice cream? We should probably get some more Oreos too just in case. We should probably get double stuffed and a package of mint Oreos too. Whilst we were deciding which Oreos, a bag of twizzlers accidentally fell into the shopping cart.
Then on the way back to the checkout we decided to get some fruit snacks… since we got fruit snacks we decided maybe we should get some actual apples too… and in that case we should go back to the juice aisle and get some apple juice as well.
Update: The ice cream sundae bar went very well, less than half a tub of ice cream was left so we did get the right amount.

Tonight, we gathered for dinner for the last time on this trip. We may have been tired from the work and fun activities throughout the week, but the spirits among all were still very high indeed. We all very much enjoyed the dinner (barbecue, I.E., pulled pork, chicken, baked beans, watermelon, etc.), as did Sky and her family and Eddie (two our carpenters for the week) who joined us for part of the evening. We then convened the devotion which consisted of brilliant reflections on the week – how God was utilizing all of us for his good works, what we will take from this week, and other things. We then prayed and embraced the fellowship for the evening, as we will be returning to Maryland tomorrow.

This week we have been discussing the church and the community and family it provides us with. This does not apply in a game of kick ball. Our competitive sides come out with a rapid point build up in the beginning from the other team, and even with a slight comeback from my team, we didn’t get the chance to take the W since the ball popped :/ At 11:30, we all met in the backyard of the church for the funeral of Daquavious (spelling of name still unsure). We sang Amazing grace, had an open casket, and prayers from our pastor herself. Don’t text Preston, he is mourning.
