Our plan is to rehearse AND film each scene at the same meeting time. Hopefully, the attached schedule is clear, but if you have any questions, please just ask. We are hoping to have all filming done by the end of November, so that we have time to edit it all together before the pageant airs during the church service on Sunday, December 12th.
Our plan for each rehearsal group is that we will spend time rehearsing lines a little bit, and then film the kids delivering their lines immediately following their rehearsing them. For this reason, we ask that your child come to their rehearsal IN COSTUME for the scene(s) we are recording.
This year, our pageant is called “Double Take” and it is the Christmas pageant as told by Matthew AND Luke. We have all seen and heard the Christmas story so many times, we know what is coming next. The angel appears to Mary…. Joseph and Mary arrive at the inn….the angels appear to the shepherds who arrive at the stable minutes before the wise men, etc. But when we read our Bible, we learn that the gospels of Matthew and Luke relate the story of Jesus’ birth in very different ways! Our traditional Christmas pageants usually edit these two tales into one compact narrative, but this year’s pageant does not. We are telling both stories! We also like this script because it includes quite a bit of humor, which hopefully makes it all the more fun for the kids who are performing.
We will supply any and all props, and will have costumes at the church ready for your child for rehearsal/filming day. On the cast list, you will see notes re: what your child should wear on their rehearsal/filming days (most costumes are worn on top of their street clothes).
