From the Pastor
As we move into our Autumn rhythms, routines, planning and worship many things will be different this year as we adjust our rhythms, routines and planning around the ongoing pandemic. During the summer months our Returning to Public Worship Covid-19 Task Force was hard at work looking at the data, learning about best practices for public gatherings, thinking about our congregation and the specific needs we have as we ponder what it will look like to resume worship in the sanctuary. Take a look at the Task Force recommendations. The hope and prayer was that we would be able to live stream our worship service from the sanctuary by now, but everything takes longer than anticipated and so we are still looking into the cost, labor and technology for what is involved with upgrading our system so that we can livestream from the sanctuary and have an excellent worship experience for those in the sanctuary and for those worshipping from home. Many, many thanks to Heather Davies for chairing the Returning to Public Worship Task Force and to her entire team that met to create and think through the recommendations that we will seek to implement—Marianne Beardall, Stan Bissey, Ed Devinney, Susan Haynes, Chris McAuliffe, Ed Pierson, & Bob Stow. Thank them for sharing their time, energy and compassion for our congregation when you see them.
September involves new beginnings and so we are naming this month: In the New Beginning. We begin anew with our 11:00am online worship starting on September 13. We begin anew with Christian Education by Zoom for all ages starting on September 20. We begin anew in thinking about how we live out our motto of, Caring for ALL with Faith, Hope and Love. God’s mercies are new every morning we are reminded in Lamentations 3:23—even in the midst of lamentation (and pandemic) there are new beginnings. May we claim these new beginnings for ourselves and for our congregation.
“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning” (Lamentations 3:22-23).
With You in the New Beginning,
