It is a season of study at Potomac Presbyterian Church. I am inviting you into this season and challenging you to immerse yourself in at least one of the study groups that are happening this month at the church by Zoom. Your options are the following: a six-week deep dive into the Old Testament book of Esther with our Seminary Student Beatrice Laryea; jumping into the final quarter of The Year of the Bible study reading the prophets in the Old Testament and the Epistles in the New; or having hard conversations about pursing God’s Heart for Racial Reconciliation through a Be the Bridge discussion group.
Our Holy Book as well as our faith have so much richness. The only way to grow in knowledge of God and wisdom is to do so in community while wrestling with others’ ideas who are also seeking wisdom and knowledge of God’s heart. Sometimes having hard conversations with those we trust, or even just with those with whom we share a faith tradition, is what growing in faith is all about. Sometimes glimpsing the scriptures through the lens of someone else is the only way to grow in faith, hope and love. Please find ways to engage God’s word and one another by joining one of these study groups this month.
These are your October study options with other church folks by Zoom:
- The Book of Esther Small Group on Tuesdays at 4:00pm
- The Year of the Bible Study on Wednesdays at 6:30am or 10:00am
- Be the Bridge: Pursing God’s Heart for Racial Reconciliation by Latasha Morrison Book Group on Monday noon, Monday night at 8:00pm, Wednesday night at 7:00pm, Thursday at 4:00pm or Friday at 10:00am.
I am happy to talk with you about the study options that we are offering by Zoom if you are conflicted with where to begin. You may join more than one group.
I look forward to growing in faith, hope & love with you this month through study, prayer, and perhaps even through having hard conversations that need to be had.
