Greetings!
I am so grateful you are exploring Potomac Presbyterian Church (PPC). Welcome to this community that seeks to, Care for ALL with Faith, Hope & Love. When we gather for worship and see new faces in the community we will often say, “you honor us with your presence.” We mean it and I’d like to say the same here. You honor us with your presence here! It is life-giving for our community when new folks enter in and seek a relationship with the Lord.
My call to ministry came out of a sense of deep appreciation for the reality of Christ’s love for me at a time when I was distressed and grieving (over my mother’s death). After five years working on Capitol Hill, I went to seminary with the express purpose of learning more about God’s love. How does God’s love work? What’s the best way to receive the love of Christ and to share it? Why does faith in God give such meaning to my life? Who is the Holy Spirit and how is the Spirit part of God and Jesus? Those are some of the questions to which I was seeking answers nearly thirty years ago.
As I’ve moved through ministry and engaged with folks at all different places on their spiritual journeys there has remained one constant throughout—God’s deep and abiding love for ALL of God’s children. My prayer for you is that you will know the love of our Lord in real and tangible ways through the PPC community—in worship, education, mission, fellowship, congregational care, in the memorial garden, and even on Zoom in a hybrid gathering.
God’s love is real and is what animates the world. May you know that love for yourself personally and powerfully.
Blessings,
Emily
