Dear PPC Parents,
The kids are back at school which means it’s time to talk about the CHRISTMAS PAGEANT!
I know, its early! But let me explain why we are beginning this conversation with you now. As most things are these days, the Christmas Pageant will be pre-recorded and shared virtually during the worship hour on December 13th. We will need your child’s pre-recorded sections of the pageant early enough that we have time for video editing and putting all of the pieces together.
I am very excited about the pageant story this year! It will be like no pageant we have ever done. Completely and entirely different. But that sort of fits with how everything is going these days for our kids! The story we are using is just wonderful. It is a script that is based off Barbara Robinson’s book The Best Christmas Pageant Ever. It tells the story of six misfit children who volunteer to star in their town's Sunday school Christmas pageant, and end up teaching the town the true meaning of Christmas. Longtime PPC member Joyce Jenkins introduced our family to this story years ago, and it has become a favorite that we read every year.
So you have a clearer sense, let me try to explain how this will work. The script is made up of many discrete short scenes. Chris and I will make arrangements to rehearse briefly over Zoom with the kids who are involved in different scenes. We will then ask you, the parent, to please record your child’s section of the scene they are in. Or we may record them when they are all on a Zoom call together. It will depend on the scene. We will be figuring some of this out as we go, which is why we are starting this process in September.
Once roles are assigned, I will be sure to deliver to each child/youth a full script and any costume pieces or props they may need (or check with you to see if you have at home items that are needed for your child’s scene). Because our rehearsals will be with only a couple kids at a time and conducted virtually, and because scenes can be recorded when it is most convenient for you (and for kids with stage fright, there is no audience!), there is lots of built in flexibility and we are hoping all the children and youth of the church can participate.
My one request right now, is simply to please let me know if your child/ren would like to participate, and their age/s. Please fill out this sign up genius as soon as you can: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20F094EA9AF2CA75-christmas2. If you have any questions, email me at or Chris at .
We are really looking forward to working with your kids on this very fun project, which will be a loving gift to our church family!
