“As God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience.” Colossians 3:12

The 2013 Hazard, Kentucky, Mission Team will be hosting a pancake lunch (freewill donations accepted) and an auction. Two items will be up for live auction (an original piece of photography by John Norvell and four box seats to a Nationals game). Members of the mission team have also pledged their services of babysitting, tutoring, sports lessons, dog walking, home and yard work, and cooking/ baking, and these items will be part of a silent auction. Featuring a dramatization by Ann Marshall Davis – She will be presenting the book, “All God’s Children Need Traveling Shoes” by Maya Angelou, the widely acclaimed Black American musician, professor, producer, performer, poet and “wordsmith”. In this fifth work of an autobiographical series, Maya Angelou relates how she joins a “colony” of Black American expatriates in Ghana during the 1960s in her search for a spiritual homeland, only to discover “you can’t go home again”.

For twenty years, Ann Marshall Davis was a book dramatist in the San Francisco Bay Area offering condensations of fiction, non-fiction and biography – exactly in the author’s own words – to book clubs, retirement homes, churches, women’s groups and civic clubs. The presentations last about an hour and having heard the program, you have “read the book”.
